My goal is to help you speak and understand real English so that you can have conversations with native speakers. We won’t spend time on vocabulary and grammar rules that native speakers don’t use. I'll even teach you what rules you can break! :-) My name is Patricia and I’m from the United States. I’m a native speaker of English and I have a neutral American accent. I graduated from Harvard University and Columbia University (Graduate School of Business). I’ve been teaching for more than 10 years and I have a TEFL certification. I work with adults and children who are 12 years old or older. Topics regularly covered in my classes: Conversation skills Listening skills Speaking skills Grammar Vocabulary Expressions Common phrases Pronunciation Verb tenses Sentence structure Culture/pop culture In my classes we’ll have lots of conversations because that’s the best way to improve your speaking and listening skills. We’ll practice common conversations (like small talk) and discuss the things you enjoy talking about. These conversations will give us opportunities to learn or review vocabulary, grammar and verb tenses. When you learn these things through conversation, they’re much easier to remember. Do you find it difficult to pronounce certain words? I’ll show you some exercises that you can practice to make these words easier to pronounce.
