Hello! My name is Melanie. I am 29 years old and I live in South Carolina (USA). I have spent the last 6 years traveling abroad performing and teaching. I am very passionate about teaching and helping students reach their learning goals. I plan all of my lessons for my students individually and their goals become my goals! We will practice identifying the English alphabet, learning phonics, and being able to speak and listen to English. For students who are studying for their Junior High School or High School entrance exams, I will prepare a rigorous course of study with homework. Each class they will practice their listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills. The students will improve their vocabulary and grammar so that they can improve their test scores and be prepared for the exams. For students who want to pass Eiken, we will practice how to pass Eiken while also improving how to speak like a native. This means an increase in vocabulary, grammar, as well writing for Eiken. If you want just an Eiken prep course, I can prepare that for you. If you want a traditional course of study that also helps to improve your Eiken score, I can prepare that for you. For students who want to learn how to converse with native people or are interested in traveling to an English speaking country, we will talk about a variety of topics to improve grammar, vocabulary, and situational conversation. I will also teach slang and casual speech if you are interested. I help to train students to not only read and speak like a native, but also to write like a native speaker. I believe improving the student's English is done by improving all of the skills. I will plan specific and interesting lessons for the students as well as assign homework if the student wants it. Conversation course? OKAY! Test Preparation? OKAY! I have been teaching English for 5 years, and teaching music for 8 years. After graduating with my Master's degree from The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, I spent 2 years in Mie, Japan teaching English at AEON English School. I love teaching students of any level and of any interest! I have taught all ages from baby to senior citizen. I have prepared students for junior high school and high school entrance exams as well as for TOEFL, TOEIC, and EIKEN. I have personally coached over 25 students to obtain EIKEN 2, Pre-1, and 1. I have had over 10 high school students receive Eiken Pre-1 before graduating high school. I also train students for the English Pronunciation Test (EPT). My students have received up to 97 points out of 100 for pronunciation. I specialize in American Pronunciation but can also teach British English Pronunciation (especially English and Scottish).
