Conversational English This course will prepare you for a globalised English speaking world starting with self-introduction basics all the way to rich dialogue. 1. We will focus on communication first then increase your fluency by applying corrections to your speech. The goal of this step is not to get it "right" but emphasis will be placed on whether your English speaking friends or colleagues understand you and can respond to you! 2. Student directed: student choice of topics - There are few things more uncomfortable than being in a conversation on a topic you either intensely dislike or have nothing to say on. - I will let you choose the topics that you would like to learn more about, speak more in and become proficient at discussing. - I want you to be confident and comfortable advancing your opinions using correct sentence structure and overall structure. - You and I can brainstorm some topics that you would like to study together. I will then produce a priority plan which takes your interests into account. 3. Conversation Strategies - We will learn the difference between an everyday conversation an academic conversation. - You will learn through mock scenarios and assignments I give you the different strategies for introducing the topic, drawing the other person out, ask for opinions, advance your own opinions, use factual examples, and so forth. 4. Learn vocabulary - Key phrases and words related to topics that you want to learn will be taught. - Engaging and fun activities will be done to implement and practice new vocabulary. 5. Formal and informal conversation skills - We will learn how to enter, extend and end conversations both formally and informally. - Knowing these strategies for different types of conversations will help you avoid confusion and even annoyance and gain experience in different types of conversations. Hello! My teaching style is warm, friendly, realistic and modern. I am very versatile and adapt to my students needs. I do not believe that there is one rigid learning system for all students as each of us is unique and the way we learn is unique to us as well. I model my teaching delivery and system according to the core needs of my students. My lessons will focus around what my students want to learn and what they are looking to gain from learning a new language. Generally, my guidelines for my lesson plans is to keep them simple, contemporary and fun. Obviously, my lessons' objectives will be that my students finish their lessons having learned something new or practiced a target area of their choice which they feel they need to work more on. I am adaptive and act as a facilitator between my students and the language they want to learn. I always use warm ups and entertaining lesson starters to introduce a lesson about a specific subject so that my students approach the subject at ease and without any hesitation.
