Our main goal is for you to ultimately communicate better in English through improved pronunciation and listening skills. If you have a trial lesson, I will email you a placement test to check your level of English before we meet. During the trial, I will find out about you and your English needs. I will measure your oral ability, focusing on your pronunciation. Following the class, I will email you a detailed feedback form based on our conversation. Even if you decide not to have regular lessons, the trial will give you an excellent idea of what you need to work on, especially regarding pronunciation. PRONUNCIATION COURSE The sad reality is that most teachers are afraid of teaching pronunciation or don't teach it well. Pronunciation is usually taught as a mental activity: the teacher models, the student repeats. Not good! We will make it both visual and physical. Much better! Now, I can't promise your pronunciation will improve overnight: that depends on you. I can, however, promise that in just a short time you will have the tools to help you improve. We will cover: ISOLATED SOUNDS You will develop a profound awareness of how English sounds are produced. You will then have the ability to use your vocal muscles to produce sounds better. ISOLATED WORDS You will become aware of how individual sounds join together to produce words, and word stress (stressed/unstressed syllables). CONNECTED SPEECH You will become aware of how individual words are put together to form a continuous stream of speech, and become aware of how intonation works. You will learn how to understand and be understood better. This course is for students who already have a good level of English (upper intermediate and above). If your main goal is improving pronunciation and listening skills, then I highly recommend this course. It will give you a deep awareness of how pronunciation works, which can then be used to make improvements to your pronunciation. NOTE: It's recommended you take a Trial Lesson first. We can talk in more depth about your goals and difficulties, and discuss a plan of action together. Time permitting, I will also give you a demo. This course is 10 X 55 minute lessons, but is flexible. If we finish the content quicker, remaining lessons will be dedicated to practice.
